Dear Saints,
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.”
Psalm 116:15
This notice of Episcopal Transition is as per the directive of our Presiding Bishop & Chief Apostle, Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr.
God, who is omnipotent and omniscient, has summoned His Server, Bishop George Dallas McKinney, to eternal rest. Bishop McKinney served as Prelate of the Southern California Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. In November 2000, he was elected to the General Board of the Church Of God In Christ and for 20 years he faithfully served in this capacity.
As a renowned author, theologian, and prolific teacher, Bishop McKinney was beloved and endeared throughout Christendom. His voice of wisdom was highly sought out and treasured worldwide.
The protocol of our great church directs the Adjutant General to release Notices of Episcopal Transition only after close consultation with the Presiding Bishop and the family of the deceased. With love and respect we have held close communication with Lady Barbara J McKinney, the widow of Bishop McKinney
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic resulting in local and state restrictions on public gatherings to achieve social distancing, the family will hold a private memorial service for this servant.
During this time of uncertainty, we request the continued prayers as well as acts of emotional and spiritual support for the family. It is with great honor that the National Adjutancy will assist the McKinney family and the Southern California Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction during this most difficult time.
“Blessed be the God, even the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.”
2 Corinthians 1:3
