Dear Saints,
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.”
Psalm 116:15
This notice of Episcopal Transition is as per the directive of our Presiding Bishop & Chief Apostle, Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr.
God, who is omnipotent and omniscient, has summoned His Servant, General Board Member, Bishop Matthew Williams, to eternal rest. As a beloved and endeared Servant of the Lord, the ministry of Bishop Matthew Williams is etched in the life of the Church Of God In Christ.
Bishop Williams served as Pastor of Brown Memorial Church Of God In Christ for more than 35 years. He was consecrated as Prelate of Florida Southwestern Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction in 1998. He was appointed Adjutant General in 2005 and served three terms until his election as a member of the General Board of our great church in 2016. He recently served as Interim Prelate of the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic resulting in local and state restrictions, we request the continued prayers as well as acts of emotional and spiritual support for the family. It is with great honor that the National Adjutancy will assist the Williams family during this most difficult time.
“Blessed be the God, even the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort.”
2 Corinthians 1:3
