Bishop Burton was my first pastor at Reid Temple COGIC.I rememeber his preaching and authory .
I was a child but his sense of godly power influenced me to find my way into the minstry.

As a child my parents, the late Elder and Mother Belgium Baxter, often fellowship with Bishop Burton during his early ministry in Steelton, Pa. and later in Harrisburg, Pa. In those years he had an extraordinary radio broadcast with a rich mix of liturgy and holiness praise. While our contact was less frequent after his move to Philadelphia there are two things for which I will always be grateful: the example of his extraordinary gift for preaching; and his personal encouragement of my ministry before and during the years I was Dean of the National Cathedral in Washington. He is a true giant of the Church ecumenical. The Rt Rev. Nathan D. Baxter, Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania.
It was an honor to met and talk with such an awesome, powerful, and knowledgable man of God. I met him through my former pastor and spiritual father, the late Bishop B.K. Thoroughgood. Bishop Burton will be greatly missed…a true pioneer of our church!
My prayers are with the family of Bishop D.A. Burton. I to know what it''s like to lose a father, a friend, a Family leader. Bishop Burton and my father, the late Bishop Tanner C. Perry were the best of friends. It was always a joy when they would meet in Memphis or where ever. As the son of Bishop T.C. Perry I was blessed to be in the company of these two giants, Men of God. Men who realy knew this great church of God In Christ. To God be the glory.
Respectfully
Elder James E. Peerry
I have known Bishop Burton all my life. in fact, he knew me before I knew myself. So many childhood memoires have come to the forefront os my mind. He was a friend to my parents, Julius & the late Eva Garrett, as well as my grandaparents; The late Rev. & Mrs. William Murphy Garrett of Harrisburg, PA, and the late Bishop Wyoming & Mary Wells of Greensboro, NC. Sincere prayers for the family…

Bishop D.A. Burton,
Proverbs 3;6 In all thou ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path. Bishop Burton's favorite scripture Bishop Burton, came to our Emanuel Church C.O.G.I.C in Steelton, Pa.the year 1939. He walked with his people, taught us the word of God cared for us, he was firm, and stern, He was there when we needed him to try and keep us on the right path. Many souls were saved, and healed through his ministry.
Thank You Bishop D.A. Burton
Your Daughter in the Gospel Mother S.M. Carter & Family!
I've known Bishop Burton since over 60 years going to State meetings & convocations with my Father the late Supertintendent Kelmo Porter Sr. He was a true Man of God, we are praying for the family and the Eastern Pa. Jurisdiction in our prayers.
This is such a time of sorrow for our church, another Father has entered the church triumphant. Bishop Dewitt Arthur Scott Burton was an example of Living Holy and knew the foundation of the word and the church. We talked and he imparted so much in my life these past few years more recently when I visited him last August. I shall forever remember the life, ministry and legacy of the Great Fallen General Bishop D.A. burton. His family, church, jurisdiction and National church is in my fervent and earnest prayers.
