Presiding Bishop Emeritus Blake Honored
In A Moment of Humility

The Board of Bishops of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. paused to honor a father in the faith, Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake, Sr. — with a special award presented by Bishop Donald R. Murray, Chairman of the Board of Bishops, and our Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard.

In a moment few in the room will soon forget, Bishop Blake was once again seated in the Presiding Bishop’s chair,  a gesture initiated by Bishop Sheard himself, who stepped aside in his signature spirit of humility to honor the man who shepherded this great Church for so many years. The room was engulfed in emotion as the gesture spoke louder than words: the deep respect, love, and honor this denomination holds for Bishop Blake’s life and legacy.

The honor didn’t end there. First Lady Mae L. Blake, beloved wife of Bishop Blake, was also presented with a special gift on behalf of the Board of Bishops by Supervisor Diane Bogan, First Lady Karen Clark Sheard, and General Supervisor Mother Barbara McCoo Lewis — a beautiful tribute to a woman who has stood faithfully by her husband’s side throughout his years of ministry.

It was a picture of true kingdom leadership,  honoring those who came before, even as we move forward together.

We celebrate you, Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake, Sr. and First Lady Mae L. Blake. Thank you for a lifetime of faithful service to the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. and the Body of Christ at large.
