ATLANTA – Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake has named Superintendent Linwood Dillard of Memphis, TN as the new Chairman of Auxiliaries In Ministry Convention (AIM). Dillard succeeds Bishop J. Drew Sheard, who was recently elected to the General Board of the Church Of God In Christ, Inc.
Dillard, the former president of the International Youth Department, pastors the Citadel of Deliverance Church Of God In Christ in Germantown, Tenn. Having served in many capacities at every level of the church, the new chairman brings a wealth of administrative and organizational skills to the position.
Dillard holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is also a graduate of the W.L. Porter Bible Institute, which is accredited by the Evangelical Training Association. In February 2006, Dillard was featured in EBONY Magazine as one of 30 young leaders under the age of 30, highlighted for his work with various social and professional organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Society of Black Engineers, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
A recipient of numerous awards, recognitions, and commendations for his academic, ministerial, and social involvement and accomplishments, Chairman Dillard assumes leadership of the denomination’s largest summer convention that comprises of five of the major departments of the church: Music and Youth, Mission and Evangelism, and Sunday School. The departments share in three conventions in one setting.
The 2013 convention will be held in Baltimore, MD, July 1 – 5, and is expected to draw tens of thousands of delegates.
The goal of AIM is effectiveness in ministry. Its primary goal is training for a more effective domestic and global outreach, and its mission is to advance Kingdom work through training, worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and service.
Dillard is happily married to the lovely Stephanie Marie Dillard. They are the proud parents of two children, Faith Marie and Linwood, III.
