\n\tHello SMM Coordinators and Robotics Champion Mentors!<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is time to set our Game Plan in Motion for our AIM Convention where SMM will have its 1st Robotics Competition!  We want to thank each of you for the hard work and dedication you have poured into our young people as you prepare for this monumental event!  I wanted to reach out to you to provide direction and resources as you are preparing your young people.  Please read all the way to the bottom.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tPlease do not hesitate to call if you have even the "smallest" question.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2.<\/strong>  There are many ways for your team to participate.  
\n\tYou can compete in the Robot Competition ONLY
\n\tYou can compete in the Research Competition ONLY (in the form of an Essay, Digital Video or Poster Board that you bring to AIM)
\n\tOR You can compete in BOTH.  However, to be eligible to win the Robotics Award of Excellence, you must participate in Both<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3.<\/strong>  There are two categories for a total of 7 Awards:  Robot and Research Project <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRobot Awards<\/strong>
\n\ta. Mechanical Design
\n\tb. Programming
\n\tc. Strategy & Innovation
\n\td. Robot Performance (Highest Mission Points Earned)<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tProject Awards<\/strong>
\n\te. Research Project
\n\tf. Innovative Solution<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tg. Robotics Award of Excellence**Best Overall* a Team must Participate in BOTH the Robot and Research Project Competition<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t4. <\/strong> To assist in your planning for AIM, here is a General\/Tentative Schedule for Robotics – <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t9-10:30  (3 concurrent sessions)
\n\tTeams: Team Set up, practice, prepare for competition<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNew Students:
\n\tIntro to Robotics 101: Building and Basic Programming
\n\t10:35-12  (3 concurrent sessions)
\n\tTeams: Team Set up, practice, prepare for competition<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMeeting for Team Coaches ONLY: Questions, Review of Match Schedule<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNew Students:
\n\tRobotics 201 (Students must have completed Robotics 101 or are familiar with NXT)
\n\tAdvanced Programming<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t5.  <\/strong>Teams should bring the following to AIM:<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t
\n\tRobot
\n\tRobot Kit
\n\tLaptop with NXT\/EV3 software  loaded on 
\n\tPlease save all programs on a thumb drive or on the Cloud to ensure there are many places where you can retrieve your programs just in case of computer glitches.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t
\n\tWe do ask for ONE team to bring their Green city Challenge Missions for the Competition Table.  I will bring a setup for teams to practice on. If you'd like to bring your set, please email me directly:  vbennett21@yahoo.com<\/a> or valben444@gmail.com<\/a><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t6. <\/strong> Go to Robotics Ministry | Scholastic Motivation Ministries  for Judges' Scoring Sheets and ALL things Robotics! Videos of Missions are there as well.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
