Pastor Anthony D. Coleman, Th.D.

Pastor Coleman was raised in Forrest City, AR, the second son of four children by Superintendent Alvin and Agnes Coleman, Sr. (Pastor of Jones Temple Church Of God In Christ in Wynne, AR). He is a graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR in May 1999, with a degree in Pre-Medicine (Biological Studies). He completed his Master’s degree in Education (MSE) from Arkansas State University in 2013, while simultaneously attending

International College of Bible Theology to complete a Master’s degree in Ministry (M.Div.). The accepted challenge to become a Gospel preacher in 1996 afforded him the opportunity to work in the public and private educational sectors; teaching mathematics, biology, as he matriculated to Major Gifts Director for Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta, GA).

After establishing and pastoring Chosen Generation Ministries in Newport, AR from 2007-2015, and relocating to Atlanta, GA, God honored him thru the leadership and counsel of Bishop Jewel R. Withers, Jr. (Prelate of Arkansas First Jurisdiction), to install Pastor Coleman, Pastor of Marion Church Of God In Christ, January 27, 2017, where he continues to lead that congregation to experience significant growth spiritually, numerically, and financially. Pastor Coleman was appointed as the Arkansas First Jurisdictional Secretary in 2018. On June 13, 2021, Pastor Coleman received his Doctorate of Theology (Th.D.) from Adullam Bible College with honors along with being the commencement speaker. Bishop J. Drew Sheard (Presiding Bishop of COGIC) also recognized Dr. Coleman’s leadership capacity and appointed him President of COGIC Urban Initiatives in April 2021. In November 2022, Dr. Coleman, after prayerful consideration in being asked to consider running for a vacated seat and his first-time campaigning for an office; Dr. Coleman was successfully elected to City Council for the City of Jonesboro, AR (5th largest city of Arkansas with over 100k residents).

Councilmember, Dr. Anthony D. Coleman married the love of his life and ministry partner of 22 years, Joy’celynne W. Coleman, affectionately known as “Lady J”. With their blended union, they share 4 children, Alexandria, Andrea, Christian, and Brendan. They are also completely ecstatic about their 3 grandsons (Isaiah, Robert, and Kario), and 3 granddaughters (Kensley, Jada, and Koa)
