Bishop Uleses C. Henderson, Jr. serves as Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, California, and is widely recognized for his leadership across ministry, law, and community advancement. He is a partner at One LLP, a leading intellectual property and entertainment law firm, where his practice focuses on entertainment and new media, technology, and complex IP litigation. He also counsels pastors, churches, and nonprofit organizations on governance, executive leadership, and regulatory compliance.
Within the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Henderson serves as Chairman of the Publishing Board and Special Counsel to Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard, and previously served as General Counsel for the denomination. He is also the Team Chaplain for the Los Angeles Lakers and formerly served as Chief Deputy General Counsel and Senior Advisor on Faith-Based Initiatives for the National Bar Association.
Bishop Henderson began his career as a NASA rocket scientist and National Science Foundation Fellow. He holds engineering degrees from Purdue University and the Georgia Institute of Technology and worked as a spacecraft propulsion and design engineer for The Aerospace Corporation and TRW Space & Technology. He later earned his law degree from Loyola Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review.
As an attorney, Bishop Henderson has represented numerous Fortune 500 companies and major institutions—including Wal-Mart Stores, The Boeing Company, Toyota Motor Sales, Johnson & Johnson, Charles Schwab, and Major League Baseball. He also served as lead international counsel for the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai, China.
A committed community leader, Bishop Henderson serves on the Board of Directors of the Union Rescue Mission, the nation’s largest private homeless shelter. In 2025, he launched the Big Ballers Bible Study, a weekly discipleship ministry connecting NBA players across the league.
Bishop Henderson continues to integrate faith, scholarship, and strategic leadership to build strong organizations and empower the next generation of Christian leaders.
