SUPERINTENDENT COURTNEY SANDERS, JR.

Superintendent Courtney Sanders, Jr., affectionately known as “J.R.,” is an anointed Gospel preacher, visionary pastor, community developer, and servant leader whose ministry reflects a passion for both saving souls and transforming communities.

A fourth-generation member and preacher in the Church Of God In Christ, Superintendent Sanders serves as Pastor of Faith Temple Complex in Hayti, Missouri, where he has faithfully carried the pastoral mantle since 2014 following the passing of his father, the late Administrative Assistant Courtney Sanders, Sr. He is the son of Administrative Assistant Sanders and District Missionary Bernice Sanders and represents a rich heritage of faith, holiness, and service.

Saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of twelve, he accepted his call to preach in 1998 and was ordained an Elder in 2001 by Bishop Lawrence M. Wooten. His years of faithful service have included numerous district and jurisdictional assignments. He currently serves as Superintendent of the John Lofton District and was recently appointed by Jurisdictional Prelate Bishop Marvin Sanders to the office of Administrative Assistant of the Missouri Eastern Second Illinois Western Jurisdiction.

Superintendent Sanders is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in Business Administration and has more than two decades of corporate leadership experience. Yet his greatest passion remains ministry that reaches beyond the walls of the sanctuary.

Under his leadership, Faith Temple Complex has grown from a three-acre church campus into a 14-acre ministry and community development complex. Together with his wife, Lady Cora Sanders, he established the J-Club Summer Learning Program, serving more than fifty youth each summer; launched gun-violence interruption and youth-development initiatives; and established OCOH—Our Community, Our Health, addressing food security, health and wellness, education, workforce development, and other critical community needs.

That vision has produced food and wellness programs, employment opportunities, agricultural development, and STANS Produce Market, a 4800 square foot community market providing locally grown fresh produce. The ministry is now advancing another phase of its vision through the development of a nearly $1 million walking trail and community park designed to strengthen families and promote healthier communities.

Superintendent Sanders is married to his ministry partner, Lady Cora Sanders, and they are the proud parents of Courtney III “Tre,” Corbin Wesley, and Chloe Michelle.

“I get no greater joy than seeing souls delivered from the hands of the enemy and lives transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.”

Superintendent Courtney Sanders, Jr. is a Kingdom builder committed to “Extending a Helping Hand”—proclaiming Jesus Christ, developing people, strengthening families, and transforming communities for the glory of God.
