PASTOR BRIAN RANDOLF NELSON, SR.

Pastor Brian Randolf Nelson, Sr. is a third-generation preacher, pastor, evangelist, author, singer, songwriter, and ministry leader, anointed and gifted to proclaim the Gospel with power and revelation. Born in Houston, Texas, he is the son of the late Bishop A. C. Nelson and the living gospel music icon, Dr. Betty Ransom Nelson and the grandson of Bishop C. H. Nelson, founding prelate of the Texas South Central Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

Pastor Nelson received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in the spring of 1992 and accepted his Kingdom call to servant leadership that same year. For more than three decades, Deliverance, Discipleship, and Development have remained defining pillars of his ministry assignment. He has traveled extensively throughout this country and around the world, proclaiming the Gospel in churches, national conventions, conferences, revivals, and leadership gatherings.

In 2005, Pastor Nelson succeeded his father in the leadership of Nelson Memorial Church of God in Christ. In 2009, the ministry transitioned into what is now Jericho City Church of God in Christ, where he continues to serve as Senior Pastor. Under his leadership, the ministry has experienced significant growth and expanded its impact within the church and community.

Prior to assuming the pastorate, Pastor Nelson served in youth ministry leadership at the Fountain of Praise Church and Atascocita United Methodist Church in Houston.

His service extends beyond the local church. Pastor Nelson previously served as Vice President of the International Department of Evangelism of the Church of God in Christ, serving as a convention speaker, itinerant trainer, and leadership coordinator. He currently serves as a Superintendent in the Texas South Central Jurisdiction under the leadership of General Board Member Bishop Prince E. W. Bryant.

In recognition of his commitment to preaching, ministry, and servant leadership, Pastor Nelson was inducted into the 2026 Class of the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College. Beyond the pulpit, Pastor Nelson is an accomplished singer and songwriter. His musical ministry includes the 2012 release of “Be Still” and the 2020 release of “God Is in Control,” a declaration of faith and encouragement during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pastor Nelson is also an entrepreneur and visionary, serving as CEO of Brian Nelson Ministries and Nelsongs Publishing Company, through which he continues his work in preaching, publishing, music, leadership development, and Kingdom ministry. His commitment to theological education includes studies at the College of Biblical Studies, Houston Graduate School of Theology, and Virginia Union University.

Among the many assignments and opportunities God has entrusted to him, Pastor Nelson considers fatherhood one of his greatest privileges. He is the devoted father of Brian II, Brooke Rian, and Blake Ransom Nelson.
