Superintendent Jerald K. Simpkins, Sr.

Jerald K. Simpkins, Sr. has dedicated his life to ministry and service, influenced by his upbringing in a family that loved God and Church and his military background. His journey reflects a strong commitment to faith and leadership within the Church of God in Christ community.

Early Life and Family Background

Jerald K. Simpkins, Sr. was born in France in 1954 and grew up in Vallejo, California, as the fourth of eight children in a God-fearing family led by his father, Superintendent Henry Simpkins, founder and pastor of Macedonia Church of God in Christ, his loving mother Eunice and a grandmother, Catherine who lived within the family all his growing years.

Military Service and Spiritual Calling

In 1974, Jerald joined the Air Force, where he served with distinction until his honorable discharge in 1978. That same year, he married Sheila A. Simpkins. In 1986, Jerald embraced his spiritual calling and accepted Jesus as his Lord. He actively participated in various church ministries, including Sunday School, choir, and Men’s Ministry.

Ministry Leadership and Family

In 1998, Jerald and his wife established Solid Rock Church of God in Christ, which celebrated its 27th anniversary in 2025. They also founded Solid Rock Valley COGIC, which was later transferred to other leadership. Jerald currently serves as Superintendent of Sweet Unity District and Executive Secretary of Nor Cal Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. He and Sheila have celebrated 51 years of marriage and have raised three children and five grandchildren.
