Elder Carl E. King, Sr.

Rev. Dr. Carl E. King, Sr. is the founding pastor and visionary leader of Christ Community Church of God in Christ in South Holland, IL. Under his leadership for nearly forty years, Christ Community has become a beacon of light in the community with the mission of “connecting SOULS to Christ.”

Dr. King is an active and committed leader within the Church of God in Christ. At the national level, Dr. King serves as a jurist on the National Judiciary Board, having served on the Judiciary Committee at the Constitution Convention and on the Blue-Ribbon Committee. He is a former Dean of the Institute for the General Council of Pastors and Elders. He also serves as District Superintendent for the William Roberts Memorial District of First Jurisdiction of Illinois (FJI), under Bishop Ocie Booker, FJI Prelate. He is a past Chairman of the Pastors and Elders for First Jurisdiction of Illinois.

Dr. King serves as a chaplain for the South Holland Police Department. He has also served as the President of the South Holland Ministerial Alliance and serves on its Executive Committee. He is the former Board President for the Thornton Township High School District 205 School Board. A gifted teacher and educator, Dr. King is a former Adjunct Faculty member at Indiana Wesleyan University in Merrillville, Indiana. Currently, he serves as a board member of the Urban Outreach Foundation.

Dr. King attended Purdue University and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Governors State University. He is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Certificate in Biblical Studies, completed the Community Leadership certification from Harvard Divinity School, and earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary.

Dr. King is married to Dr. Jeanne Porter King, is the father of three adult children, and three grandchildren.
