BISHOP LEON PAMPHILE
Leon Pamphile is an educator, a community development agent, the bishop of the Church of God of Haiti since 2011. He oversees 120 churches throughout the country. His vision focuses on education and evangelism to bring to all the good news of the Gospel as an instrument of hope. For that purpose, he established a Bible School for the training of Haitian pastors and leaders. He is the founder and Executive Director of the Functional
Literacy Ministry of Haiti, Inc., a 501(c3) organization providing to Haitians health care and hope over the last forty years . This ministry currently operates a clinic serving a community of 30,000 people, 75 adult literacy centers enrolling 5000 participants, a K-13 school with an average enrollment of 600 students, the Excelsior Technical Institute (ETI) which trains young people to find jobs and become productive citizens. He is currently implementing the centennial vision to celebrate one hundred years of ministry of the Church of God in Christ in Haiti in 2029.
Pamphile is a historian focusing on the relations between Haiti and the United States. He is the author of nine books and numerous articles on the subject. His book, Haitians and African Americans: A Heritage of Tragedy and Hope was acknowledged by the Massachusetts Legislature for “Chronicalling the Parallel struggles of Haitians and African Americans.” Pamphile is also an inspirational writer seeking to empower people to attain the fullness of their God-given potentials. He has published four books on this subject: The Mind of Christ: your Weapon of Victory, Adjusting to Life’s Changing Seasons, Enjoying Well-being through Well-doing and most recently 101 Keys for Victorious Living. Pamphile has lectured at many universities including Harvard University, University of Maryland, University of Pittsburgh, University of Connecticut. Pamphile is married to Marie-Rozelle Gousse, now First Lady of COGIC HAITI. They are blessed with three children and six grand children.
