BISHOP MATTHEW L. BROWN

Bishop Matthew Lamont Brown believes that at the heart of every individual lies a reservoir of significance imprinted on their DNA to create life altering possibilities for sustainable transformation. A fourth generation COGIC member, Bishop Brown has distinguished himself as a servant-leader in the local, district, jurisdictional, national and international church for over 40 years. He was consecrated to the sacred OFFICE OF BISHOP on June 21, 2021, by The Most Reverend J. Drew Sheard, Chief Apostle and Presiding Bishop of the multi-million member Church of God in Christ, headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bishop Matthew Brown has an earned Th.D. and is currently pursuing an additional graduate degree from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union. 

He celebrates twenty-eight years of collective pastoral ministry at Greater Community Church in Marietta, Georgia, as well as former Senior Pastor of Pentecostal Temple and Superintendent of the Trinity District in the Church of God in Christ at Buffalo, New York. He served the Church of God in Christ in several leadership capacities. He currently leads the 10 Year Strategic Planning and Implementation Committee of the Presiding Bishop and General Assembly of the Church of God in Christ, Inc.  

Bishop Brown is an unequivocal Christian with a vast experience, like the biblical Joseph, in government, civic, sacred and public administration. He is a national thought leader and highly regarded in global ecumenical circles. He is theologically and corporately educated, trained and degreed. He currently serves civic, social, secular and sacred institutions within his community. It is this eclectic collection of experiences that has served him well as a faith, marketplace and community influencer. Author, certified trainer, facilitator, coach, pastor and International Jurisdictional Bishop- he’s committed to bringing kingdom to the global community. 

Bishop Brown embraces the missional mandate to significantly assist churches, organizations and communities in their distinction of service, development and transformation to the locales they serve. He has committed his life to servant leader principles which he has shared for over 30 years with diverse communities, as well as faith and business leaders. His commitment to providing a local distinctive service signature, aptly named Blue Water Ministry and Development, emanates from a deeply nourished conviction, which was formed as he served underserved communities in his native Buffalo, New York.

Bishop Brown motivates ministries, trains leaders, and collaborates and partners with communities to achieve collective benefits for others. He has proven his exceptional skills as a public speaker and author, showcased in his new book, Becoming Distinctively You, which is available on MatthewLBrown.org, Amazon, as well as Barnes and Noble. He is featured in Sam Chand’s AVAIL magazine as a celebrated thought leader, strategist, certified John Maxwell Team coach and facilitator implementing programs, strategic ministries and community initiatives.
