Bishop Mason has been ranked among a rare cadre of Pentecostal\u00a0pioneers who built an African American majority denomination that\u00a0is multi-racial in its membership and international in its mission focus.<\/p>\n

Especially during the first few decades of his bishopric, the Church\u00a0of God in Christ included black, white, and Latino congregations.\u00a0There even existed interracial and multi-racial congregations in\u00a0various states. Bishop Mason made history by breaking down racial\u00a0barriers in the Christian church during the height of legalized, racial\u00a0segregation in the United States. What an astonishing\u00a0achievement!<\/p>\n

As a mission-minded leader, Bishop Mason traveled abroad and saw\u00a0churches in the various countries that he visited. He also wholeheartedly\u00a0supported missions around the world. During his tenure as senior bishop,\u00a0the Church of God in Christ sponsored missions and\/or congregations in\u00a0countries that included Jamaica, Haiti, the Bahamas, Mexico, Cuba,\u00a0Liberia, Ethiopia, Great Britain, India and Thailand.<\/p>\n

The rising generation will be inspired by Bishop Mason’s unwavering\u00a0commitment and dedication to Jesus Christ, just as many of his\u00a0contemporaries were awed by his love for God. His consecrated\u00a0spirituality attracted people of all races to his ministry.
