ELDER LARRY WEEMS, SR.

Superintendent Larry Weems, Sr. has dedicated over 30 years to pastoring Davis Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC). His journey began in the Laurel Mississippi Public Schools, where he excelled in athletics and academics, earning a basketball scholarship to Jackson State University (JSU). At JSU, he served as president of the prayer group and vice president of the COGIC Club, graduating in 1980 with a BA in Graphic Arts Design. His commitment to the church was further solidified with a Doctor of Divinity degree from Grace Life University in 2022, complemented by studies at the CH Mason Institute and Southwest Bible College.

Superintendent Weems’ dedication to COGIC is evident through his active roles on the Strategic Planning and Constitution Committees, as well as his contributions to The Official Manual of the Disciplines of Worship Services and Liturgy, published in 2024. His expertise in financial and organizational leadership is demonstrated by his oversight of multimillion-dollar budgets, his role as Superintendent of Properties for COGIC, and the founding of the Anne T. Weems Scholarship Foundation. His work with the COGIC finance committee further highlights his financial acumen.

With over 30 years as an entrepreneur, Superintendent Weems has successfully managed a diverse business portfolio, showcasing his business expertise and commitment to both church and community. He has held numerous leadership roles, including President of the Jurisdictional Young Men’s Christian Council, District Superintendent, and Administrative Assistant, serving under Bishops Theodore Davis, Hollis Musgrove, and currently Bishop Daniel Littleton. Nationally, he serves as a National Adjutant and has previously held the position of Regional Adjutant Overseer.

Superintendent Weems is also deeply involved in the West Central Jackson Community, focusing on services for the elderly and disabled, affordable housing, job creation, and educational support for youth.
