BISHOP DWIGHT E. WALLS, SR.

Bishop Dwight E. Walls Sr. was born the fifth son to the late Bishop and Mother Floyd A. Walls in the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan. He spent his early academic years a student of the Ypsilanti Public School System, where in his high school years he gained the notoriety of becoming State Champion and earned scholarships for his advanced athleticism in the sports of track & field and cross-country. He continued his education as an attendant of the University of Michigan, Bank Street College, and Washtenaw Community Colleges where he earned an A.A. and a C.D.A. in Education.

On February 17, 1973 Bishop Dwight Walls was joined in holy matrimony to the lady of his dreams, Missionary Mignon Walls. Together the two of them worked to provide a nurturing and successful family unit for their three wonderful children: Elder Dwight E. Walls II, Missionary LarScene D. Walls, and Minister Dion (Donnietra) Walls. They are also the grandparents of 5 loving grand children and one great-grandchild. Bishop Walls is truly a family man.

For the past twenty-three years Bishop Walls has served as Pastor of the historical Greater Shiloh Church of God in Christ. In the year of 1975 Bishop Walls was appointed to the first Marshall team and later (1985) served as one of the Church of God In Christ’s first security task force members. He served by holding the bags and briefcases of Bishop J. A. Blake, Bishop C. L. Anderson, and Bishop J. O. Patterson Sr.

In the year of 1988 Bishop Walls began his tenure serving on the National Board of Trustees for the Church of God In Christ. This position entails ascertaining the budgetary needs of the Church and all national properties. Bishop Walls has since been named the Chairman to the Board of Trustees. Bishop Walls is a true servant.

On April 8, 2014, The Presiding Bishop and Presidium of the Church of God in Christ recommended to the members of the General Assembly to appoint Supt. Dwight E. Walls to the Office of Auxiliary Bishop of the Great Lakes Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan, and the General Assembly did approve his elevations as prescribed by our Constitution. And on April 5, 2016, The Presiding Bishop and Presidium of the Church of God in Christ, recommended to members of the General Assembly in session in Memphis, Tennessee, the continuation of Great Lakes Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan to be led by Bishop Dwight E. Walls, Sr. The General Assembly approved and ratified the recommendations, as prescribed by our Constitution.
