BISHOP KEVIN E. KNIGHT, SR.
Kevin E. Knight, Sr., was born in 1954 to working-class parents, the Late Bishop John L. and Fannie B. Knight. In 1976, he accepted the call to ministry.
As a Minister, Bishop Knight served in many local and District areas of the Church and was later appointed youth president in NJ Third Jurisdiction under Bishop Norman Prescott.
In 1984, he was ordained an Elder in the Church, and in 1989, he was appointed assistant pastor of Heavenly Temple COGIC. In June 1999, his father, the Late Bishop John L. Knight, passed the mantle of leadership on to him, and to date, he continues to serve as Pastor of Heavenly Temple, COGIC.
For our Int’l church, in 2001, he served as East Coast Regional Youth Director in the Int’l Youth Dept. In 2005, Presiding Bishop G. E. Paterson appointed him Vice President for the Int’l Youth Department. Bishop Knight serves the General Assembly as Chairman of the Resolution Committee, a member since 2012. In August 2016, he was consecrated to the Episcopal Office of Bishop and appointed Jurisdictional Prelate of the NJ3rd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction in 2016; Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.
Bishop Knight’s dedication to learning is evident in his impressive educational journey. He has earned an Associate in Applied Science in Public Policy, a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctorate of Theology degree. He is also a graduate of the National Leadership Institute.
Now married 47 years to the wife of his youth. Born are their two “diamonds in the rough:” Bishop Knight is an influential leader within the ecclesiastical walls and in his City.
