Bishop Edwin M. Walker is a devoted servant of God, dedicated to uplifting communities and strengthening the faith of believers. With a pastoral career spanning over 37 years, he serves as the Pastor of Friendly Temple COGIC in Chicago, Illinois, where he has led his congregation with unwavering commitment, rooted in faith, love, and service.
Throughout his ministry, Bishop Walker has played a pivotal role in expanding the reach of the Church of God in Christ. As the Prelate of the Historic Illinois, Northern Jurisdiction, he guided numerous churches, enhancing their spiritual and community influence. His leadership as District Superintendent and Youth Department President brought about significant growth and engagement among the youth.
On the national level, Bishop Walker served as the International Youth Department (IYD) Administrator and Logistics Coordinator, overseeing programs that impacted lives worldwide. His role as IYD Vice President over Logistics demonstrated his strategic planning and coordination skills, ensuring the success of major events.
As Jurisdictional Bishop, Bishop Walker secured over $1.2 million in grants and donations, provided substantial financial support through scholarships and grants, and initiated programs like the Bishop’s Intensive Training (B.I.T.) for new pastors. His compassion is reflected in the creation of a widows fund and efforts to address food insecurity.
Beyond his church duties, Bishop Walker is President of Bread of Life Chaplains, supporting detainees in Cook County correctional facilities, and Founder & CEO of the Favors Walker Family Life Foundation, which empowers youth and revitalizes communities.
Bishop Walker is a devoted husband to Lady Salana Walker and father to their five children. He seeks to bring his passion and leadership to the General Board of the Church of God in Christ, striving to build a stronger, more united church.
