Bishop David A. Sanders serves as the Assistant Financial Secretary of the Church of God in Christ, Inc (COGIC). under the leadership of Financial Secretary, Bishop Frank A. White. He has served in the office for over 29 years. He also serves as President of Malcolm X College.
In his 29 years, Bishop Sanders has personally managed the collection and accounting of more than $350 million dollars for the church. As the Merchant Services Director since 2008, Bishop Sanders has saved COGIC millions of dollars in credit card fees.
As Deputy Chief Operating Officer for City Colleges of Chicago, Bishop Sanders was responsible for the funding, delivery model, design and construction of the new $251 million dollar Malcolm X College campus which was delivered on-time and on-budget. As president of MXC since July 2015, Bishop Sanders has led Malcolm X College to become the largest enrolled community college in the City of Chicago. In addition, he has led Malcolm X College to its largest Operating budget ($76M+) and to be named the #1 community college in the City of Chicago and the #9 community college in the State of IL by Intelligent.com in 2023. In February of 2024, Bishop Sanders was celebrated as one of the top 100 CEOs in the City of Chicago by Titan 100.
Bishop Sanders holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from DePaul University, Chicago, IL, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, and is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Concordia University – Chicago. Married to the former Felicia R. Hooker, Bishop Sanders is a dedicated father of three and grandfather of six. He and his wife reside in Chicago, IL.
