BISHOP DON SHELBY

Bishop Don Shelby is highly respected and esteemed as a man of God who has dedicated his life to the community. He published the book It’s Time: Turning Moments into Miracles as an author, advocate, and minister of the gospel.

Bishop Shelby also defends a balanced approach to ministry, marriage, and family. In addition to being faithful to his wife, Bonita, Bishop Shelby has five children, all of whom are saved and musically gifted. Don III (Diamond), Courtney (Aaron), Drea (Otis), Trent (Falon), and Amber are his children.  They are members of the gospel singing group The Shelby 5. Together, they have shared their love for God through their music, touching the hearts of many.  Bishop Shelby is also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Don IV, Legend, and baby Paige.

Bishop Shelby is currently studying for a Master of Divinity at Pentecostal Theological Seminary, building upon his educational background, which includes studies at Tennessee State University and the University of Detroit. A third-generation member of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Shelby is the founder and pastor of Burning Bush Church of God in Christ and the Establishmentarian

and Jurisdictional Prelate of Michigan Southwest Fifth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. He is a member of the Judiciary Board of the Board of Bishops of the Church of God in Christ and a member of the General Assembly’s 10-year Strategic Planning Committee. In addition, he is the Vice President of the COGIC Alliance of Churches for Washtenaw, Wayne, and Jackson Counties. He serves as a Chaplain for the Wayne County Sheriff Division. 

He has touched millions in the Oxygen network’s “Preachers of Detroit” series with his testimony. 

Furthermore, President Joe Biden awarded Bishop Shelby the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the community. Through his various roles and accomplishments, he continues to inspire others with his unwavering faith and dedication.
