Superintendent Herman Hicks <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Superintendent Herman Hicks is the Pastor of Greater Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, in Wichita, Kansas. In April 2021, he was selected by the Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop J. Drew Sheard, to serve as the Assistant Commissioner\/Endorser, Military and Institutional Chaplaincy for the Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Dr Carlos R. Bell. Until recently, he served in the Church of God in Christ Men\u2019s Department and Men\u2019s Perfecting Men\u2019s Conference for 18 years, spending the last 12 years as the Vice Chairman. Furthermore, he is the 1st<\/sup> Administrative Assistant to the Bishop of the Kansas Southwest Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Mark L. Gilkey. Supt Hicks serves on the Judicial Investigation Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee of the General Assembly for the Church of God in Christ. \u00a0Additionally, he serves as the District Superintendent for the James Watson District. Additionally, while on active duty in the Air Force, he founded and served as the pastor of Maranatha Tabernacle of Praise Church of God in Christ in Mackenbach, Germany, and Tabernacle of Praise Church of God in Christ in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. \u00a0He was also one of the founding members of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Bishop Lorenzo Kelly.<\/p>\n

After 25 years on active duty in the United States Air Force, he retired from the military in the rank of Colonel.\u00a0 His final military position was Commander, 22nd<\/sup> Mission Support Group at McConnell Air Force Base, KS.\u00a0 He was responsible for overseeing the support for over 4,000 civilian and military personnel, an annual budget of $98 Million, and $416 Million in infrastructure. His most memorable military assignment was when he served as the first black Deputy Chief of Protocol for the United States Air Forces Europe as a Major (working for a 4-Star General).\u00a0 He was responsible for the official visits to Germany of President George H. W. Bush, and the first visit of General Colin Powell (the first black to be selected as the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff of the U. S. Military). He also, planned and organized the official visits of general officers, U. S. Senators, U.S. and Foreign Ambassadors, Foreign Senior Officers, European Royal Family Members, all the 4-Star Generals of the United States Air Force, and the visits of the Chief of Staffs from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines.<\/p>\n

Actively involved in the community, he is a former Commissioner on the City of Derby\u2019s Planning Commission. He served as the President of the Greater Wichita Ministerial League in Wichita, KS (Jan 2011 – Jan 2014). In 2012 he served as a member of the Strategic Planning Committees for Wichita State University. In 2010, he received the Golden Eagle Award (for outstanding community service) from the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.\u00a0 In 2011 he received the \u201cClergy of the Year\u201d award from the Wichita Chapter of the NAACP.<\/p>\n

He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Mississippi in 1980, and a Master of Political Science\/Criminal Justice from the University of South Dakota in 1982.\u00a0\u00a0 On Sept 7, 2008, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from St Thomas Christian College. \u00a0He and his wife, Lady Anadina Hicks have four children and one grandson.<\/p>\n
