Bishop William Murphy

Most gospel music fans know the smash hit “Praise Is What I Do”—the title track from Shekinah Glory Ministries’ 2002 gold-selling album—much better than they do the name of its writer, William Murphy, III. But that is about to change, and in bold and dramatic fashion.

With the release of William’s own label debut album, The Sound, the world was able to now hear the amazing voice and deeply moving songs of a young man who already is one of the brightest lights in the firmament of contemporary praise & worship music.

Possessing a voice that is nothing short of stunning, in range and dynamics, and with seasoned hit-makers flare for instantly accessible, engaging and unforgettable words and music, William makes music that crosses all lines of age, creed and color. William Murphy, III makes music for the masses.

William Murphy, III was given a solid foundation in both the church and its music, as his father and grandfather were musically gifted, and the elder a Baptist minister and his son a minister and bishop.

“Church is what I’ve known all my life,” he says. “My family is rich in the heritage of the Gospel, in spoken-word ministry as well as music. That was the foundation I grew up on.”

Although he had cousins who had been, proverbially, singing from the cradle, William’s talents were later in coming to the fore, as he sang for the first time in front of a congregation at age 14, after having first been active in school musical programs. “I was the late bloomer in the family,” he remembers. “I just woke up one morning and discovered I could sing! For a number of years I thought I would just use that gift in my father’s and grandfather’s church, and that would be it. His first major step up the ladder of recognition as a worship leader came when he met Bishop Paul S. Morton, the International Presiding Bishop at a national convention of The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship in 1995. William was asked to record a song for the album released from that conference, on which Bishop Long gave a spoken introduction. The two became friends and William was soon after offered the position as the Fellowship’s worship minister.

As his presence rose in the fellowship, and word of his immense talents spread ever farther, William was presented the opportunity by Bishop Long to serve at New Birth in 2001. William and his wife and two children moved to Atlanta as he became the church’s Senior Minister of Worship, a position he held until December 2005. In January 2006, he and his wife, Pastor Danielle launched the dReam Center Church of Atlanta. The dReam Center Church of Atlanta is alive in the earth teaching men to cultivate, strengthen and build their personal relationships with Jesus, their wives, their children, their families and their communities thru prayer, worship, family, evangelism, education, wealth development and social action.

So you think your ready for an AIM Convention https://www.cogic.org/aim/2017/02/03/so-you-decided-to-attend-the-aim-convention/ Fri, 03 Feb 2017 22:07:31 +0000 http://www.cogic.org/aim/?p=2671

First or maybe second time at AIM Convention

Not all conventions are alike. Some are massive events where thousands of people descend on enormous convention centers for day after day of constant activity. Others are tiny, laid-back affairs where you can see and do everything over the course of a few hours. AIM is one of those massive events. It’s important that you are prepared for AIM before you get there.

Unless you have an enormous amount of disposable income, you’ll probably be doing this on a budget. That means every dollar you spend on tickets, travel, and lodging is a dollar you won’t be spending on clothes, uniforms, reports and offerings. Take the less expensive flight. Register early, if you can stay with a friend or relative who lives nearby, that may be an option also.

Putting together an itinerary for each day of the convention is easy. Making one that you can actually stick to is something else entirely. As a general rule, there is a line at registration, be pre-pared. Give yourself plenty of time to get from one class, meeting, service, rehearsal or practice, especially if they’re far apart.

You should also be prepared to adapt on the fly, as no schedule is immune to sudden changes. AIM has great social media and a mobile app that you can get updates from all week. Check each option on your smart phone on a regular basis for new information.

It’s physically impossible for one person to do everything. At any given moment, there will probably be at least three things going on that you want to be a part of. Everything sounds like fun and they all offer great ministry information. We suggest creating an account on the online schedule with all of the events and services you want to be apart of for the week. The schedule will send you an update daily of your specific task each morning. Whether you are a Sunday School, Mission/Evangelist, Youth or Music delegate.

Everyone goes to AIM Convention for their own reasons. Some are there to purchase items from the vendors, others want to go to all the musical events, some may actually want to attend the nightly services. No matter what convinced you to give the AIM Convention a try this year, remember this is a family convention and there’s something offered for everyone ages 4 to 94. Have fun, and don’t worry if you don’t manage to cross off every item on your ambitious to-do list. Just getting there is half the battle.

Bishop Jimmie Williams

Bishop Jimmie Williams was born on July 20, 1954 in Miami, Florida.  The sixth child born to Roosevelt Williams, Sr. and Willie Belle Williams, Bishop Williams is a native south Floridian where he received his formative education.  In addition to his formative education, he has also received a Bachelor of Religious Studies from the Maranatha School of Religious Studies and an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from the Saint Thomas University in Jacksonville, Florida.

It was during a revival in 1975 at the Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Miami, Florida conducted by the late Dr. Oliver Crooms that Dr. Williams, in his early 20’s, was saved.  In that same year, he received the baptism of the holy ghost at a revival conducted by Evangelist Roland Neal.  While serving faithfully at the Macedonia Church of God in Christ under the tutelage of Superintendent Paul Golatt, Sr., affectionately called Dad Golatt, Bishop Williams accepted the call of God on his life to preach the gospel.

In 1980, he was ordained elder in the Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Bishop Jacob Cohen.  Because of his faithful service to the Lord, he was appointed pastor of Saint Paul Church of God in Christ in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1989 by Bishop Jacob Cohen. He served at Saint Paul Church of God in Christ for three years until the Lord led him to establish his own ministry and gave him the name Lighthouse Worship Center Church of God In Christ.  During the infancy of this ministry, Bishop Williams and his congregation of 35, were in a shared facility, Calvary Chapel Church of God In Christ in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from 1991 to 1993.

His ministry began to experience growth in membership. Thus in 1993, Bishop Williams secured a storefront facility for his 35 member congregation.  While at the storefront facility, Dr. Williams’ congregation grew to 80.  Because of God’s favor, this spiritual leader moved from a store-front bay to the present location where the weekly attendance is over 500.

Many lives have been touched by this leader’s message of hope, love, and inspiration; thus, Lighthouse Worship Center Church of God in Christ, has become a home and foundation for divine and miraculous displays.

Bishop Williams has earned the reputation of being a gifted, anointed teacher and preacher of the gospel and a great psalmist.  Not only is he a visionary, but he also has a passion for the ministry.  Bishop Williams is dedicated to his church and is also active in service to the community with a deep passion for outreach ministries that extend beyond the boundaries of the church; such as the “Feed the Children” program.

Bishop Williams is the very proud, dedicated and devoted husband to his lovely wife of 39 years, Iris E. Williams, who both share their life’s missions with two beautiful daughters, Jasmine and Jimiris

Bishop Michael Hill

The call of God was evident upon Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. from early childhood. As a son of the Church of God in Christ, the Lord’s hand rested heavily upon him as he was being prepared for the ministry. Throughout each era in his life, God was priming him for a divine purpose.

Bishop Michael Hill Sr. is a native of Detroit, Michigan. Upon completing high school, he attended Detroit College of Business and Highland Park Junior College majoring in accounting. He also attended Saints Junior College in Lexington, Mississippi.
Bishop Hill’s father, Bishop Robert Hill, was an exceptional man of God, and both his father and his mother, Mrs. Cozette Hill, have played a very influential and nurturing role in his life.

After the demise of his father in 1986, Bishop Michael Eugene Hill Sr. assumed leadership of Kingdom International Church of God in Christ. Bishop Michael Eugene Hill Sr. has moved the church forward introducing innovative and exciting changes into the ministry that have ignited and propelled it to new heights, and inspired countless people of various nationalities. A highlight of his work came in 1997 when he led the church into its new edifice located in Dearborn, MI, this being the first African American church to locate into that city.

Bishop Michael Eugene Hill Sr. presently serves faithfully in the Church of God in Christ at various levels. In November, 2011, he was officially installed as the Jurisdictional Prelate of the Great Lakes First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan following the demise of Bishop Clifford C. Dunlap. Prior to this God ordained elevation, Bishop Hill served as Superintendent of the Deliverance District, Administrative Assistant to the Bishop, and Chairman of the Finance Committee for the Jurisdiction. Internationally, Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. served as President of the International Youth Department from 2004 – 2008. He also serves the local community as a Chaplin for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. has been the loving husband of Missionary Pearl Hill for over 37 years. This loving union produced two beautiful children and five wonderful grandchildren: a daughter NaKisha Hill and her children, Dwight III, Micah, and Christian; and a son, Michael E. Hill, Jr. (Katrina) and their daughters, Kyla and Keliah. His devotion and love for his family is perpetually evident and divinely reminiscent of the love that Christ shows to the church.

Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. is a very talented and anointed man of God who harbors the musical ministry gifts of singing and playing the organ; gifts that were imparted to him as a young boy. However, God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to elevate him from the soft touch of the ivory to the realm of spiritual warfare. Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. believes in preaching and teaching the Word of God and empowering the people of God to live according to Kingdom Principles. He has dedicated his ministry to meeting the needs of the total man; studying daily and searching the scriptures for fresh bread to feed God’s people. His unique outlook on life in the Kingdom of God effortlessly attracts people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds affording him the opportunity to plant the seed of the Gospel of Truth across the United States.

Bishop Michael Eugene Hill, Sr. credits the depth of his love for family and people, the foundation laid by his parents, and his strong roots in the church for being the core of the phenomenal success he’s experienced in his ministry.
