<\/a>This notice of Episcopal Transition is as per the directive of our Presiding Bishop & Chief Apostle, Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr.<\/p>\n

God, who is omnipotent and omniscient, has summoned His Servant, Bishop Phillip Aquilla Brooks<\/strong><\/em>, to eternal rest.\u00a0 As First Assistant Presiding Bishop and Prelate of the Historic Northeast First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan, Bishop P. A. Brooks had the distinction as the longest serving General Board Member in the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. – spanning over 40 years.\u00a0 Bishop P. A. Brooks also was the first Chief Adjutant of our denomination, appointed by the late Presiding Bishop J. O. Patterson, Sr.<\/p>\n

Bishop P. A. Brooks is beloved and endeared throughout Christendom.\u00a0 Known as “Mr. Church Of God In Christ,” Bishop P. A. Brooks ministered with dedication, devotion, and the spirit of excellence.\u00a0 He was the founder and pastor of the New St. Paul Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ for over 63 years.\u00a0 The longevity of his servitude extended from our founder, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason to our current Presiding Bishop, Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr.<\/p>\n

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic resulting in local and state restrictions on public gatherings to achieve social distancing, the Brooks family will hold a private memorial service.\u00a0 When the restrictions are lifted, a date will be set for a National Memorial Service that will appropriately recognize the godly life and notable achievements of Bishop Phillip Aquilla Brooks.<\/p>\n

During this time of uncertainty, we request the continued prayers as well as acts of emotional and spiritual support for the family.\u00a0 It is with great honor that the National Adjutancy will assist the Brooks family and the Historic Northeast First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Michigan during this most difficult time.<\/p>\n
