MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTIONS

Medical Ministry
The Medical Ministry provides clinic services to the underserved using nursing professionals and other medically trained technicians complimented by adequate and appropriate medicines and supplies. The ‘Ministry’ primarily assists local population, farming societies, and attempts to manifest the Lord’s mercy and grace, as in 1 Corinthians, with gifts of healing. There is deep concern for the spirit and the body of man, that the total quality of life ‘planted and nourished’ will continue to thrive and flourish long after the YOAM Medical Ministry has left.

Vacation Bible Study
Youth On A Mission V.B.S. teach religious education through stories, bible readings, skits, songs, crafts puppet shows and other visible activities. One of the main goals of VBS programs are to present the Bible and make the Bible more understandable for elementary school age children.

Praise Dance
The Youth On A Mission Praise dancers express the feeling and emotions of GOD in which His holy spirit flows through the very being as one dances.
We minister to others through Song/Praise/Dramatization. This ministry creates an opportunity where the youth/adult of Youth On A Mission can express themselves with Christian music and movement as an individual, yet as one team.
The team members are used as vessels of God to usher in the Holy Spirit, as they praise and worship in reverence to our Lord, Jesus Christ. This not a “performance” it is a ministry.

Praise in the Park
This ministry reaches into the local hosting communities by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a manner that will inspire and motivate Christians AND non-Christians to serve God with their whole heart, and to present the gospel to unbelievers in a manner which will encourage them to live for Christ.. It is our belief that Jesus commanded us to continue in the same manner as His disciples of teaching and preaching the full and true Word of God. Youth On a Mission will attempt to utilize a public gathering area (like a public park) to reach out the lost and to work through the church, to work along side of the local saints of God for the Great Commission and to encourage those gathered to hear the Word of God. We preach the full Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is our desire and commitment to the Lord to help and assist the local church.

Hospitality
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. –Hebrews 13:1b-2
The Youth On A Mission Hospitality Committee tries to embody the spirit and belief that the people living in our hosting country are of infinite worth in the Creator's eyes, and as people of faith we are called to respond to people at whatever level their need might be. The team provides clothing, personal necessities, etc. what are all donated by many of the participating team embers.

Construction
The Construction Ministry includes repairing to existing structures as well as building new ones. The goal of YOAM is to assist with the school, home or orphanages in each country. YOAM has started three church building projects. Two churches in Brazil are completed. The 1997 YOAM team started a church building project in Guyana. The foreign church provides the construction workers and the team members assist them. The building projects are financed by individual contributions.

Puppet Ministry
Puppets captures everyone’s attention and ignite their imagination. Youth On A Mission’s puppet Ministry creates teachable moments for presenting the Gospel and serves as an excellent resource to break away from the traditional styles of presenting the Gospel. The team creates imaginative skits using various forms and types of puppets. By using these skits and puppetry ideas, the ministry surely captures and spiritually nurtures the imagination of children and adults alike.

Music Ministry
The music ministry for Youth On A Mission is encouraged and is important for the entire trip ministry. Each year, a music ministry is ‘creatively’ formed utilizing the team members and a music ministry ‘component’ is formed. By using music as a method of ministering, for the unsaved, it sets the mood for them to hear the gospel and receive the gift of salvation. For the newly saved, it should be exciting enough to awaken them to hear the Word of God for instruction. For the more mature, it sets the mood for praise and worship of the Lord.

Evangelistic and Street Ministry
Consider the fact that over 95 % of the young people in the world who haven’t heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, live outside the United States” The evangelism ministry includes ministry to children, teens and adults. Many children participate in the Child Evangelism Ministry. The church children are very knowledgeable about the Bible, therefore, we provide an aspect of child evangelism that may not be available because of the country’s poverty. Arts and crafts are used to enhance the Bible lessons. The team wishes to attract persons experienced in puppetry, clowns, mime, balloons and face painting to expand this ministry. Materials are left with the churches. The Evangelistic Ministry may conduct nightly services. The team forms a choir and sings also a liturgical dance team is formed. Different team members are given an opportunity to testify and/or bring a message. As a part of the Street Ministry, team members pass out tracts, witness and pray as they walk through a community. Street Services are held if the foreign church leaders have made the necessary arrangements.
