IYD Scholarships

The International Youth Department Scholarship (IYD) has been established to financially assist students who are active members of Church of God in Christ.  The IYD Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to High School Graduates and College Students who have already completed their first year of college, or who are continuing their pursuit of higher degrees, or professional certifications.

The purpose of IYD is to award scholarships to our future leaders/candidates who meet ALL eligibility requirements listed below. Funds are distributed based on contributions to meet our objectives.

Candidate eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • The candidate must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in grades.
  • The scholarship award must be used for costs incurred in attending a college or university of acceptance.
  • The candidate must be an active member of local Church Of God In Christ for a minimum of 12 months and in good standing (validated by a character reference from a church leader) and supporter of Church of God in Christ.
2020 IYD Scholarship Applications
  • Scholarship applications are available on IYD website beginning January 7, 2020 for High School and College candidates.
  • Completed IYD Scholarship application materials must be submitted together by Certified Mail, Fed Ex, UPS or USPS Priority Mail to the address listed below.
  • All scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 22, 2020. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria

The Scholarship recipients will be selected by the IYD Scholarship Committee after the deadline date for submittal of all IYD Scholarship application packet.  Each applicant must meet all eligibility requirements and submit a completed application with supporting information to be considered.

After all application have been reviewed, the Scholarship Committee will evaluate and select scholarship recipient(s) and will notify them by email and/or phone.

  • The selection criteria involves official sealed transcript, grade point average, letter of references, proof from the university applicant’s attendance, resume, recent color photo, and pertinent application information.
