COGIC.org – Many of us have heard the story of the man who calculated the number of days he had left in his life (assuming the average lifespan) and placed a marble in a jar to represent each day. After each day passed, he removed a marble. Now, this may seem a bit extreme for most people, but it does point to a Biblical principle found in Psalms 90:12:
If we would learn to “number our days” we would be less concerned about the cares of this world and more mindful of eternal things.
If we would learn to “number our days” we would more eagerly about “Our Father’s Business”.
If we would learn to “number our days” we might not get so caught up in the day-to-day aspects of our life that have little eternal significance.
If we would learn to “number our days” each day we would ask ourselves, “What did I do to further the Kingdom of God with this day?”.
Let us all ask God today to teach us how to number our days, so we can wisely spend the days that God has entrusted us to be on this earth and when our numbered days have all been well-spent at His service we can hear Him say, “Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant.”!
