From The Desk of Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Sr.
Don’t forget to vote on November 8, 2016 or cast your absentee ballot prior to traveling to the 109th International Holy Convocation.
As a church called to witness God’s love, the Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) affirms the importance of civic engagement and participation by people of faith. It is imperative that the church’s voice and influence be heard and felt amongst political and economic decision making entities to advocate policies, which advance justice, peace, and equality.
God’s word reveals His presence and influence in all areas of life, including politics. We understand that government is a venue through which God can work to edify, preserve and build a peaceful and just social paradigm in a sinful world.
The faithful should never relinquish their socio-political responsibility and should always be guided by a Christian conscience in conformity with its values to faithfully carry out the civic responsibility of voting. I encourage you to honor the sacrifices of those who worked tirelessly so that we could cast a ballot on Election Day. Vote on November 8, 2016 or cast your absentee ballot prior to traveling to the 109th International Holy Convocation. Let’s make civic engagement an overarching goal and nurture enthusiasm for the electoral process.
