Praying for the USA

LET’S FACE IT! Our adversary, the devil, has waged serious war against this “Christian” nation and we must ask ourselves, “Are we really doing enough PRAYING to produce a change in our country, let alone, in this world?” Where are our REAL interests?  Are we, the people of God, more concerned with position, power, prosperity, and popularity than we are with prayer?  After all, no monetary honorarium is necessarily set aside for prayer warriors.  And, travailing prayer, if done right, isn’t always conducive to glamor and fashion. Oh, and by the way, praying is not popular because it’s time-consuming and requires us to go into our secret closet, as opposed to being mesmerized and idolized by those who have a need for grandeur in their lives.

So, in analyzing our prayer life, does our nation’s devastation rest in our inability to pray? Or, does it rest with our fickleness in executing our privilege in prayer? Prayer requires humility, commitment, and sacrifice, but we must remember its objective. The following are some reminders based on II Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, which are called by my name . . . .

[dt_quote type=”pullquote” layout=”right” font_size=”big” animation=”fade” size=”3″]Deliverance for America Begins with Deliverance FROM Ourselves.[/dt_quote]

We need to be reminded of who we really are. We are God’s chosen and God’s elect. We are adopted into the royal family of God with privileges that only we can obtain. We are a called-out generation unlike anyone or anything in the world. We look like our Father, we are admonished to walk and talk like our Father.  We emulate our Father and only answer to His voice.

. . . .shall humble themselves, and pray . . . .

We need to be reminded of our Father’s authority.  Because we belong to God, we must remember who God is in our lives. He’s not our hook-up, homeboy or ace boon coon. He’s our Rock, our Deliverer, our Waymaker and our Healer.  Humbling ourselves in prayer demonstrates an incomparable respect for God’s Lordship and Headship in our lives.  When we humble ourselves, we recognize that we are insufficient to care for ourselves, and we totally relinquish our control, place our trust in and have total dependency on our Father.

 . . . . and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways . . . .

We need to be reminded to sincerely repent and passionately pursue the face of God.  Newsflash . . . God does not bless in mess!  Self-check . . . .  We may not necessarily care for the word ‘repentance’ but the fact remains that before our nation will be healed, repentance must be practiced at EVERY level in the Body of Christ (Isaiah. 55:7; Ezekiel. 18:31;&  Acts 17:30).  In fact, seeking God’s face while willfully sinning displays a lack of respect for the omnipotence and omniscience of our Father who sees and knows all. Thus, we must prioritize our desires in seeking or pursing God. The problem with the modern-day church is we desire the blessings of God but not the pursuit. We passionately sing, “I’m Chasing After You” but zealously rush after that which is of no real substance. Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (121-180) said, “The true worth of a man is to be measured by the objects he pursues.” Now, we know our Father is not an object, but here is a good place for self-inspection, nonetheless.

. . . .then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

We need to be reminded that our Father will hear, help and heal us if we yield to Him.  What a sweet reminder! When sin is abolished in our lives, the flow of our prayer to and from the throne of God is unhindered! There is nothing more powerful than a prayer that captures and holds the ear of God after we have experienced forgiveness.  When we come into His presence with worship and experience His joy and peace through the power of the Holy Ghost, then we, God’s people, who are called by His name, are now in a position to be helped. Even though our nation has been brought to its knees through countless acts of terrorism and immoralism and devoured by a lack of love and respect for one another, we YET have an opportunity to be healed and to see our great nation restored and impacted for and by the glory of God!

Who could ask for anything better than this?  Thanks Dad!
